The future animal is very similar to aardvark, however it is a different species. "Gorgualisa" in Latin. "Gorgualisa" means the spirit pig in English. This specie is a scientific generation of Aardvark may become in 300 million years in the future. In this section, it will be introducing the new adaptations this specie has under taken in order to survive in the Earth of future. It also examines the possible pressure which may led to this evolution.

Scientific Classification


Habitat and range:

Aardvoke has not changed its habitat and range area, they still exists in Sub-Saharan Africa area. Aardvoke population has also distributed into Asia, especially in places which provides a warm climate and forests atmosphere.Aardvoke prefers staying in area which has a rich source of water and has a rich source of vegetation. Aardvoke has increased its population especially in Malaysia and Hainan Island.

Aardvoke likes to stay in tropical forests. Tropical forests provides them a high vegetation and a lot of water resources. There will have a big impact on the diet comparing to the diet in Sub-Sahara desert. Aardvark also like to stay in area with a lot of bushes and tress nearby, so that they can have a better cover of their burrows.

As it has habitation in other areas rather than only Sub-Saharan Africa. There are a lot of adaptations changed on its body.(Will be mentioning below). The size of Aardvoke has increased into 12-13 feet long. Aardvoke spends most of the day time sleeping. They are active at night rather than daytime. By the age of 3 months, an young Aardvoke is able to dig into the underground, and find termites and ants for its diet. Sexual maturity is obtained by the age of 1.

Aardvoke diet has not changed a lot from Aardvark, they still rely on termites and ants. Some other insects which is active in Asia also added into Aardvoke's diet. Apart from eating termites and ants, Aardvoke likes to eat all kinds of beetles such as coconut Rhino Beetle, Atlas Beetle etc. Aardvoke also like tropical fruits, especially watermelon which can lower down their body temperature.

Behavioural Adaptation Of Aardvoke (1)

Storing tropical fruits under their burrow:

During night time, Aardvoke would go outside from their burrows and look for fruits and also from the trees which are near to their burrows. They carry the fruits which are captured from the trees or from the ground by rolling them on the ground using its front claws. They would keep the fruits in the deepest point of their burrows, which is able to keep the fruits cool and harder for other animals to smell it.

Environmental pressure to this adaptation

In area such as Malaysia, it has a very high temperature and a very humid area during the whole year. Aardvoke will sweat a lot more than having in Sub-Saharan area. Fruit resources are also very plenty in Malaysia, so it is a very good and convenient way to refill the water inside their body.

Behavioural Adaptation Of Aardvoke (2)

Become very aggressive if any other animal reaches close to its burrow:

In a tropical forest in Malaysia, there are a lot of wild animals such as tigers, lions, crocodile etc which are very aggressive and strong. An aardvoke might be targeted by these animals. In order to have a good self-defend, a Aardvoke may need to arisen its attitude, and fight with these other wild animals.

Aardvoke habitats in a tropical forest, there are a lot of wild animals such as be bears, leopards, oryx etc also habitats in the same area. Aardvoke may need to become more aggressive when it is under attack. A better aggressiveness may can let the counter-attack and self-defend more effective.

Structural Adaptation Of Aardvoke (1)

Bigger and sharper claws:

Bigger and sharper claws can provide the Aardvoke a various functions. They provide grip while climbing up the trees to get tropical fruits giving Aardvoke the ability to climb up trees and capture fruits. Secondly, big claws can also give the ability to Aardvoke to open tropical fruits and roll it on the ground into its burrow. Sharper claws can provide them the ability to attack or self-defend when other animal attacks on itself.

Environmental pressure to this adaptation

Tropical trees can have height up to 52 feet, in order to reach the top and capture the fruits. Aardvoke may need to have a lot of grip on its claws to achieve that. Tigers, Lions Snakes all have a very high attack ability. In order to survive in a tropical forest, where other wild animals also habitats, a pair of sharp claws can provide them the ability to self-defend effectively.

Structural Adaptation Of Aardvoke(2)

Stronger front and back legs:

Stronger front and back legs can provide faster movements for the Aardvoks while they are on a ground level. So, there will be less chances for the other wild animals to notice it. Giving itself the best opportunity to capture fruits from the tree and roll them back into their burrows. Stronger front and back legs also give them more power when they are involved in a fight, providing them a higher chance of winning and survive.

Environmental pressure to this adaptation

In a tropical forest area, there are a lot of trees and bushes. There might have animals such as tigers, hiding behind the bushes and wait for the Aardvoke to appear and have a sudden attack on it. A faster movement ability can reduce the chances of being sudden attacked by these animals. Even it did get attacked, they can escape more easily.

Physiological Adaptation Of Aardvoke

Night vision, sensitive hearing and acute sense of smell:

A Aardvoke has developed a night vision ability, more sensitive hearing and a more acute sense of smell. These senses are very important especially while they are out of the burrow at night exploring the forest for food. A night vision will help Aardvoke to have the ability to watch and detect the path in the forests more easily. Better hearing ability means that they can hear predators or any other animals from further away. A better sense of smell will allow Aardvoke to capture fruit a lot easier and sense whether there are other wild animals around.

Environmental pressure to this adaptation

An Aardvoke always have actions during the night time. Even though they have improved their adaptations and have a better ability to self-defend. Having a better night vision, better hearing, and a better sense of smell will allow Aardvoke to detect enemies before it becomes a immediate danger.
